family ties We are all very passionate about wine and have worked very hard to make our dream come true. Over the years we spent time understanding the wine regions throughout the US, Germany, France, Italy, Greece and Austria, and have learned to discover and enjoy the exciting, yet mysterious grape growing and winemaking processes. Along the way, we’ve built many good friendships with winemakers and wine enthusiasts around the world. Don has learned winemaking from the ground up, working his way up through the ranks at Babcock, Rideau and Lucas & Lewellen before accepting his current position as the Winemaker at Sea Smoke Cellars. Don’s wife Lindsay has been a partner in the venture and involved from the beginning, and in early 2006 joined us full-time as the office manager. |
The
name ampelos has additional family ties –
Rebecca and Peter were married on a small Greek island, and fell
so much in love with the island (and each other!) that they created
a small Bed and Breakfast there. Ampelos Resort offers a small,
cozy, family operated hotel that is targeted as the perfect location
for courses, conferences, meetings, seminars, theater or as a refuge.
The resort is newly built and therefore provides all the modern
day amenities while retaining the Greek atmosphere and culture.
