At ampelos, we are firm believers in the old adage that the “wine is made in the vineyard”. Our estate vineyard has been planted to those varietals that will showcase the location, soils and climate at our site, and which will produce wines of distinction and quality. We are thrilled that those best suited to ampelos vineyard are those grapes which are vinified into some of our very favorite wines! The varietals we have planted are Pinot Noir, Syrah, Grenache and Viognier, based on extensive clone diversity to provide us our “spice cabinet”.

In addition to wines from our estate grapes, we continue to produce wines from fruit from some of our favorite vineyards - our neighbor in Sta. Rita Hills, FiddleStix for Pinot Noir, Alisos for Syrah, Quatro Vientos in Santa Ynez Valley for Viognier and the Syrah for our rosé wine and Byron in Santa Maria Valley for our Grenache and Syrah.
