Outstanding In The Field Event

Outstanding in the Field was founded by Jim Denevan in 1999 as a radical alternative to the conventional dining experience. Rather than source ingredients for a restaurant, they bring the restaurant to the source. Their roving restaurant without walls is rebuilt every morning and disappears every night. It is a momentary experience and a joyful celebration of human connection. Together folks gather at one long table to share the most fundamental and universal human conversation: A meal.

Ampelos Cellars wines are certifiably delicious and the view from the hills of our 82-acre vineyard is certifiably beautiful – especially in autumn when the vines are turning yellow and orange. Over the years we have had many Outstanding In The Field tables set up in our vineyard. This year we are teaming up with Clark Staub and his giant wood-burning pizza oven for this event. Clark has cooked all over California but this is his home turf. Full of Life Flatbread is well-loved in Santa Barbara County for its woodfired pizzas crafted from local vegetables and herbs. And Clark is exuberantly full of life. Of course our organic, biodynamic and sustainable wines will be poured!
